2 Stars Not that good!
Battery doesnt last that long ..wish it wasnt this kind of batteries. All else good but take it seriously when it comes to batteries.

1 Star Disappointing
This is a case of a quality brand who put out a sub-par product. I, along with other people who’ve written reviews on this, encountered a lot of battery issues with this phone. It doesn’t hold a charge too well.

But now, a little after a year from purchase… the microphone stopped working completely! The people I call can’t hear a thing on their end, despite how well I can hear them.

For this brand, for this price, this unit should be much more dependable.

5 Stars Excellent phone that shouldn’t be overlooked/misunderstood
I am compelled to write this review because it has been reviewed poorly by other reviewers and I feel this is unfair. If you decide to purchase the phone, I highly recommend that you read through the instructions carefully. Everything is explained there quite simply. This is a smart phone with a lot of capabilities and options. In order to make use of the vast choices, you have to know what exists and how to access them. Once you do, it’s quite logical.

When I was shopping for a new phone, I looked for a variety of features. This phone had exactly what I wanted:

*No answering machine (I have digital voice mail through phone service.)

*Caller ID, Call waiting, Call waiting ID

*Nice looking

*Good quality

*Buttons that are easy to press and it is clear when buttons are depressed

*Headset Jack

*Speaker phone

I shopped for the phone in person at a store rather than online so that I could feel the phone and see its quality up close. I really liked the design and feel so I purchased it.

At first, it took some getting used to. As others have mentioned in their reviews of the same product but in different bundles (e.g.Philips CD4402B/37 DECT 6.0 Digital Cordless Phone System with 2 Handsets, there were a few features that were a bit odd:

1) When dialing, the key is registered not when you depress a button but when you release it.

2) To get to the caller ID list, you have to press “CID” then “OK,” whereas to get to the phonebook, you need only press “PBK.”

3) Its small size makes it tricky to rest it on your shoulder and hold it “hands free” while conversing.

But, because the phone is so good in other ways, I found it easy to forgive Philips for these now seemingly minor issues. Not only did it meet the criteria I had listed above, I also found that…

*The sound quality is excellent.

*It does not interfere with my wireless internet service.

*It was easy to add on an extra handset: Philips CD4450B High Def Voice Cordless Phone Handset for CD440 & CD445 Series

*I could easily transfer my phonebook to the new handset.

*I could label each handset with a name that described where it’s base/charger is located in my home (e.g. “by printer” or “dining rm”)

*The light that indicates you have a new call not only shuts off when you view the caller ID on one handset but shuts off on the other handset.

In a nutshell, this phone doesn’t have the stuff I don’t want yet has the stuff I now realize I needed.

2 Stars Poor sound quality and everything else.
This phone is one of the few I can find that does a few simple things:

-Make a phone call

-Mute

-Hold

-Have a standard headset jack input

-*Not* have multiple handset or an attached answering machine

However, there is a low static in the background of every call. I checked the manual, and it says to keep the device away from other electronics (done) and away from … metal objects! Interesting that my previous $25 cordless phone didn’t have that requirement, but this “high tech” phone does. I moved the base away from metal (which pretty much means putting it on the floor)… still no improvement.

Plus, the device is poorly made. The plastic is junk, the menu options are hard to navigate, and the ringing options are hideous.

This is the second phone I’ve tried to buy (the last one was a lovely Panasonic but despite what the Best Buy salesperson insisted, there was no headset jack). It just shouldn’t be so hard to make a decent fixed-line phone. I resent that Philips should design something that takes more time than simply plug and play. Sheesh. I’d return it but life is too short.

1 Star portable phone

Philips CD 4401 High DefVoice Cordless Speaker Phone is terrible. It is hard to hear, hard to program and hard to work with in general. I will try to return it.

The KX-TG9334T DECT 6.0 Expandable Cordless Phone assures greater protection against eavesdropping for all your calls. DECT 6.0 (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications) technology lets you move freely around your home with long range and amazingly clear sound. 5 Stars Beam Me Up Scotty
Where have I been? What a great deal and price. This system is awesome! Rings at all the handsets, callers voice at all four handsets, take them to the lanai, the porch, the backyard. They don’t take up a lot of space and look good too! Message waiting lite blinks at all four locations. My home is 3,500 Sq.Ft. and made of concrete block (hurricane country)and there is never a signal problem. Clear as a bell…Well done Panasonic!

5 Stars Great value and perfomance
The Panasonic Dect 6.0 Expandable Digital Cordless is a great phone, full of features, excellent clarity, custom ring tones etc. What I particularly like is to be ability to program telephone numbers from any phone in the house and they are accessible from all of the others. (My old Panasonic could not do this). Installation was a drop-in and was done in concert with a conversion of my telephone service to VOIP. (Goodbye Verizon taxes and fees!)

3 Stars JMK
Can’t shut off speaker phone durring a call. Range isn’t any better than my old 5.8 GHz phones. It’s nice to use the speaker phone while waiting for a human to answer while navigating menu systems then shut it off when aswered.

All phone sharing the phone book is nice.

4 Stars Not perfect but I’m happy with this system
If you are considering this set and are primarily looking for a phone with good quality, easy to use, and respectable battery life, then you’ve found it!

The only things I don’t like about this phone are extremely minor. Other reviewers have mentioned them but I’ll repeat it anyway:

1) Would be nice to give each handset a nickname (ex: “office”)

2) The talking CID is OK for basic names, but almost worthless if you have friends/family with foreign or long names.

3) I was excited about the intercom feature but it requires the other person to ‘answer’ the handset (maybe I’m wrong?). That reduces the usefulness considerably.

I like that standard AA batteries are used. That’s a big deal for me because my previous (ancient) cordless phones used special packs.

I’ve had no problems with clarity, which is the #1 “feature” of a cordless phone for me.

5 Stars Easy to use, no problems
This is how buying a product should work out. I unpacked the phones, plugged them in, and everything worked. No problems, no glitches.

The phones have good range — I can go across the street and a bit around the corner and out of sight before the signal fades. Anywhere inside the house works too.

The central base-station needs to be in a good location in the house, however. I found quite a bit less range when it was sitting between two tall computers, but everything was fine when it was out on a tabletop in a clear area.

The phones all came with clips to let you attach them to your belt or pants pocket while you’re working and they work well.

These phones made it easy to add a phone on the workbench inside my garage — just plug in one of the handset bases to the power outlet and it’s done.

I’d definitely buy the same system again, it’s a very good value for the price.

3 Stars Panasonic DECT Phone set
I purchase this product to begin replacing my old Panasonic 5.8 system. We had 5 phones on the old one and one of them quit working.

I am pleased with the new battery setup, should be a lot less expensive to replace batteries. The set up is simple, nice menu, clean display and great clarity. The overall size of the unit is nice, too.

Negative: DECT does not have the range of the old system. I had hoped to use one of the new handsets in my basement office, but there were too many signal interruptions to make that practical. I settled for one of the old handsets and have great reception. Hope it lasts till I retire.

4 Stars late
I had this item on expedited shipping, and it didn’t come btw that time frame. I called customer service and the person told me it was on backorder, which i wasn’t notified of. Then he told me i could change my shipping option to “rush” shipping which wasn’t an option in the first place and then told me he couldn’t guarantee that it would come during the time frame i needed it. i complained to ace photo digital and they only gave me half my shipping fees back…i would’ve just got standard shipping had i knew.

5 Stars Nice phones
Purchased these phones for my father. Numbers on the base unit are easy to read for him, he likes the speaker phone options, works well and the clarity of the mobile units are great. Was easy to setup. Have not had the chance to see the range. Overall very pleased with the performance of the unit.

5 Stars Good Solution to Merge Technologies
I used this to provide access to both our minimal land line and our VOIP. Our land line company is a mom & pop shop that allows minimal tranfer of numbers. Thus we would have a nightmare changing all of our primary contact numbers to a new number without actually moving. This unit enables us to continue to receive our calls on the land line and save tons by making all of our charge based calls on our VOIP. We have had no trouble with neighbors or our home wireless as expected. The calls are clear on the base and cordless units and even when on speaker. A little on the costly side but it should pay off in the long run.

2 Stars OK, but not for iPhone users
This phone is a decent choice for a 2-line cordless phone. The corded base station is a nice plus and sound quality is excellent. Range is pretty good too.

However, for me, the negatives of this phone were a deal-beaker. The phonebook has no speed dial numbers and it takes multiple keystrokes to get into the menu to look up numbers to dial. Likewise, accessing the caller ID log takes multiple keystrokes to see the log. Both should be single key access from the idle mode.

The voicemail indicator is via text on the screen, not the light on the top of the phone so I often missed seeing waiting messages. It also seemed the VM detect was flakey as I often had messages and the phone did not display them.

The ringer sounds and volumes are poor. I use this in a office environment and the softest ringer is quite loud and there is only one normal electronic ring sound (bad design for a 2-line phone!)

Finally the biggest problem of all – the cordless handsets will randomly go “dead”. After speaking about this with Panasonic they told me there may be a problem with iPhones interfering with the handsets and making them go dead. They said there were other reports on the internet of this being a problem but had not concluded their study. Since I’m an iPhone user, I guess I won’t be a Panasonic phone user.

5 Stars best phone ever
easy to use. long range reception. great hi def quality. very cool looking

1 Star poor sound
this phone sound is tinny, I had to return it.Looks great but sounds horrible. Also, the system is complicated.

1 Star Do not buy…
These hand sets do not work. They don’t let you make phone book entries. The menu items time out in just a few seconds making it nearly impossible to do anything. My handset will not sync with the base station. All it does is make and receive phone calls. I am surprised it does that much!!!

2 Stars Look elsewhere
Pros:

1. WiFi improved upon switching to this phone because it is DECT.

2. Speakerphone sound is very good.

3. Can access messages from any handset.

4. Decent range.

Cons:

1. Spontaneously blacks out while in cradle and can be very difficult to re-activate. It is incredibly frustrating to have an incoming call and not be able to answer it. This flaw alone is enough to damn the phone.

2. If you’re in speakerphone mode and push the talk button, it hangs up the phone. Non-standard and counter-intuitive.

3. Phonebook does not reside in base. Instead each handset has a separate phonebook. While it is possible to send phonebook entries between handsets, it is a painful procedure.

4. Messages on the answering machine can only be checked from the beginning. You can’t work back from the most recent as you can with other phones.

5. Caller ID is difficult to view when in the cradle, and it disappears as soon as the phone is picked up.

All in all, the user interface seems to have been designed without regard to the user.

1 Star Dont buy

This is really like an out dated cell phone. The keys are awkward and somehow I turned it to dont disturb and I cant get it to ring again….way to many buttons. The sound is OK, I cant tell if the problem is with ATT by my house ( yes, Landline..) or if the phones have poor reception. I dont know who designed this phone, but it is counter intuitive. Also it did not read my sim card either!

2 Stars So Many feature comes with a price only
I bought this item and used for around 2 weeks. The caller at the other hand wasn’t able to hear us properly. The voice seems to crack in all of the calls. We verified this by using our old handset. rest of the Features are good and easy. But our peice is either defective or phone has a issue.

1 Star Worst phone ever. Do not buy!!
This is the worst phone ever. The handsets are always just dropping the calls for no reason. Last night a 30 minute conversation cost 2 hang-ups and went through 3 of the handsets before switching to my cell. I’ve had them for about 8 months and think an electronic recyler can get more use out of them. Don’t waste your money and aggravation on these!!!

2 Stars What good is a phone that won’t hold a charge?
I’ve got many (too many) of these phones and none of them ever were up to specifications as far as talk time and stand-by time.

The features and audio are good. Buy them from a reputable store that will take them back.

Test them for there charge holding ability and if they aren’t up to snuff take ‘em back for a refund FAST!

Good luck… you may need it.

1 Star stay away
This is the worst phone I have ever had. Its been 4 months and I am ready to just throw it out. I have changed batteries twice, people on the other line can’t hear you, caller id & answering machine stinks.

5 Stars great phone and answering machine in a small package
This is a great product. The entire unit is very small so takes minimal space on the desk. The phone works well, including the speaker phone. The answering machine gives clear messages. I am very happy with this product and it is a great bargain.
