The Motorola Cliq: An Android smartphone powered by the social media star, MOTOBLUR

September 10th, 2009 Digital Phone Reviews No comments
The Cliq might be the first Motorola device with Android, but with a 350-person team , it better be good. At least it looks solid on the surface with a custom Android GUI called MOTOBLUR, slide-down keyboard, 5MP camera, 24 FPS video cam, WiFi, 3.5mm headset jack and a screen that better be able to handle a massive amount of info. The phone’s interface is built around what Motorola is calling “MOTOBLUR.” Think of this as a social media aggregator kind of like Palm’s Synergy. It syncs Facebo

Panasonic KX TS105W Corded Speakerphone White

Panasonic KX TS105W Corded Speakerphone White

The Panasonic KX-TS105W corded phone combines flexible features, sturdy construction, and a value price. A 10-number speed dial allows you to program the most frequently used numbers into the phone and dial them with the touch of a button. The speakerphone allows you to talk without having to touch the handset; a headset jack offers an additional hands-free conversation option. A data port is integrated into the base, and dial lock and call restrictions are easily programmable, making this an excellent phone for family or home-office use.

Handset and speakerphone controls allow you to adjust volume levels to your liking (the speakerphone has eight levels; the handset/headset has four), while a ringer control lets you set the ringer to off, low, or high. A flash button provides access to call waiting, and the redial feature allows you to quickly call the last outgoing number. Tone and pulse dialing modes are included. Wall-mountable, the Panasonic KX-TS105W supplies a wall mount bracket in the box, and comes backed by a one-year warranty on both parts and labor.

What’s in the Box
Base, handset, owner’s manual, wall mount bracket, modular coil cord, one long telephone line cord, quick reference guide, warranty card

4 Stars good performer
This phone uses batteries for its 20 station memory, and speakerphone power. This is a good feature because you can keep your favorites by changing batteries before they go dead(it gives you a minute to do so before losing memory)this should prevent you having to reprogram when power losses happen. All the other features work fine, and this phone sounds great.A couple of extra memory cards would have earned a 5 star rating from me.

4 Stars Some People Like Cords
I wanted a simple, corded phone, but most phones in the stores are cordless… and the ones that had cords were really expensive business models. This Panasonic model fit my needs.

I use it with my cable company’s telephone service, and it sounds great. There’s a handy volume control, so I can crank it up if I can’t hear the other party. A lot of times when I call companies, I’ll get an automated answering service, but each company sets their automated system to a different volume. This phone’s volume control helps solve that problem.

There is a handy headphone jack, but it requires a smaller headphone input than your regular headphones. (I think it’s 2.5 mm instead of 3.5 mm.) Plus you only hear sound in 1 ear… but you’re already doing that with the earpiece anyway.

There’s no caller ID, but most callers (especially telemarketeres) show up as unlisted anyway.

4 Stars just one complaint
The phone is fine – nice big buttons, a normal, old-fashioned handset that you can rest on your shoulder. BUT, you can’t put the phone on mute while it is on the speakerphone. That means, when I’m trying to take notes during a conference call, I have to either mute it and balance the phone on my shoulder or put it on speaker and pray that the dogs don’t bark.

5 Stars Great Phone – Great Price
Great phone & price. Purchased the Panasonic head set and that is 1st quality at a good price.

5 Stars Great Phone For The Price!!!
I purchased this phone because I needed a corded phone with headset capabilities for my customer service at home position. This phone has worked great and the price was EXCELLENT! It rings fine, volume controls work fine, lightweight….nothing negative from THIS critic!

5 Stars Great phones
These phones work great all over the house and even outside. Very clear signal. Great if you are putting one in a room without a phone jack.

5 Stars Looks Great, Works Great, Great $$$
Sleek handsome unit, crystal clear voice quality. Excellent range and a great price. Absolutely no cons. Exceptionally easy to set up the features. So easy, you don’t even have to read the instructions — a monkey could do it.

4 Stars Pleasant Surprise
I was pleasantly surprised with Panasonic Dect 6.0 Series with 3 handsets. Easy to set up, sound quality good, buttons easy to read, intercom is a nice feature. Only drawback–I miss my speed dials. Would recommend to any and all………worth not having the speed dials.

5 Stars panasonic cordless phone
I purchased this item because i was fed up with my earlier cordless phones. this phone works great. It lies close to my computer, yet there is no disturbance. lines are clear. i have had it only for a month so I hope it lasts. but it is a good product.

3 Stars Poor features, decent quality
First the quality, it seems to work fine. The speaker phone and regular phone all work without issue so far. Volume can be low for the hard of hearing but it is clear.

My problem with this phone system is the features and usability quirks.

1. The base has no speaker phone (I knew this before buying).

2. Each handset will display “N Missed Calls” until you manually go through each missed call in the CID list and erase them one by one. Once you’ve done this the handset will display the date/time which is what I would expect. There is no, erase all feature.

3. The phone system rings at a serious delay. The caller may have waited one to two rings before you actually hear it.

4. Both the listening and ringer volumes don’t get very loud.

5. The usability of speaker phone is odd. You cannot toggle it. Instead hitting the speaker phone button does nothin if speaker phone is already on. You have to hit the talk button to turn off speaker phone.

6. The customer service menu item give you a internet URL instead of dialing customer service for you. I don’t consider this a minus because at least something is on there.

7. The base set has no display. You can’t view CIDs or manage anything from it visually.

8. The belt/shoulder piece on the back of the phone is to thin to be useful for anything.

It’s not that this is a bad phone system. It’s that there are a lot better designed phone systems out there. This is my first 1.9 GHZ phone but as for the 5.8 GHZ systems the Uniden TRU-8885-3 5.8 GHz Digital Cordless Phone System has much better features and usability. We had that system for about 6 years without issue. The batteries were starting to get flakey so we decided it was time to “upgrade”. We sacrificed a lot of functionality for 1.9 GHZ which I hear absolutely no difference.

I don’t recommend buying old tech but be careful with these Amazon reviews. It seems people will give anything that’s shiney and does the basic job of a phone a 5 star rating.
