Uniden used to be one of the best. I’m not pleased with this phone. A lot of static noise – very hard to hear the other person – sounds like they are far away. Tried switching channels and usually doesn’t help. Not that impressed with DECT technology. Although the answering system is very easy to use and works great.

Bought tghis for use with Magic jack and it has proven to be a good investment. Great sound and no issues.

2 Stars Faulty Button Design
I’ve owned this base unit with two additional handsets for about a year and a half, and the middle button, which sets volume and accesses caller ID, has stopped functioning. I can no longer change volume, cycle through menu commands, and access caller ID for these two phones. I’ve contacted Uniden customer service through their web interface and received a canned message stating that they will only offer replacement up to a year, and after that a 10% discount. Since I had the problem on two phones, I have concluded that they were poorly designed, and have elected to purchase an entirely different DECT system (from a different manufacturer). Its too bad, because otherwise this was a great handset with an unmatched feature set, though the overall range wasn’t that great.

5 Stars Fantastic phone
The phone worked easily out of the box. The shortcut instructions were especially helpful. The phones easily initialize to the base, let it charge and your ready to go. I use it mostly for day to day phone calls and it works great. The only annoying thing about it is the center button which allows you to access the phone functions. It can be a little difficult to tap into the individual functions. Otherwise, I would highly recommend this phone.

1 Star The speaker phone is horrible
I bought this particular phone because I didn’t need an answering machine. This phone is horrible and I would not recommend it. I have terrible static in this phone. I have e-mailed customer service twice in the last 6 months and haven’t heard a word. I’m really disappointed in the speaker phone and the static. I have always purchased a Uniden phone and this is the worst experience I have had with one of there products.

5 Stars Uniden Cordless Phone
Excellent phone when all you need is a phone, no answering system. I’ve owned 2 other Uniden phones. They were all very good, but they just keep getting better with their newer models. I use this phone with a voip system and I can’t really think of any other features I would want or need. The phone is of excellent quality, easy to use and well built. I’ve gotten accustomed to all the fine features of this phone, so I can’t really say how it compares with other brands.

One feature that’s pretty cool is you can have a separate ring tone for different people in your phone book. Set one ring tone for you, one for your wife, one for the kids, etc. You always know who it’s for.

I’ve ordered quite a few products from Beach Audio/Beach Camera before. Prices are great, packaged very well in good condition and arives in just 2 days with standard shipping.

I am not entirely satisfied with this phone, but I am not unhappy either because it was reasonably priced for the quality.

The quality is inconsistant.

Two phones came in the box. One has a battery life as advertised. The other’s battery fades after 70 minutes of talking. It gets less than an hour if it hasn’t been on the cradle for very long.

Voice quality is ok, but not crystal clear.

I sound fine to people on the other end of the call. But they sound a bit fuzzy to me.

Menu wasn’t intuitive.

I needed the manual to learn how to navigate the menus.

Nice, basic features.

I don’t require many features. It remembers missed calls and calls I’ve placed. It also has a phone book. Extra handsets are also available. It also has caller id.

1 Star Bad Hardware, Bad Service
We purchased this phone in January ‘09 and it stopped working about 3 months later. The center button does not work – this makes the handset pretty much useless. I’m feeling like an idiot for ignoring posts talking about the same product.

Customer service offered to send us a new handset for $10. They know there is a problem but they insist that’s the only way we’ll get a working handset. We’re stuck with the dilemna of whether to keep investing in this phone or cut our losses. Each handset failing every 12 months costs us $20/year, $40/year if they last 6 months, …

The features of the phone aren’t bad. We haven’t noticed any problems with voice quality or range cutting out yet.

We are a long-time Uniden customer. It’s frustrating that a company cannot make a good product and/or stand behind their product. I can’t picture buying another Uniden product.

I love these phones. I do not have a phone jack in my kitchen and this is the perfect solution – I just plugged in the 2nd handset in my kitchen.

I still have to figure out the options on the phone – but so far – I am very happy.

I was looking for a basic cordless phone with an answering machine, nothing to fancy. I typically use Panasonic phones but thought I would try this Uniden. It is a good phone. I like how the answering machine is easy to use. The phones have some fun features that let you personalize them and they have a good selection of ring tones. I like the size of them, they are slim but not to small. The battery seams to last for about three days before you need to charge again.

4 Stars One of the best in its class, except for the speaker’s low volume
I’ve been using the Uniden DECT 6.0 Black Cordless Telephone System with Interference Free Digital Technology (DECT3080-3) system which comes with an extra handset for a total of three. I hope that my experience with product may help others decide whether this is the set worth buying or they should be looking elsewhere.

I see that some have experienced problems with dropped calls and ‘out of range’ issues. This is not my experience but my review is only based on the set I purchased (as ‘new’ from a third-party Amazon seller).

It is expandable to 6 handsets per base (that would be the answering machine) but each handset could, in fact, be registered to up to 4 different bases which would make everything extremely complicated if it was actually done.

I ended up with the Uniden DECT set after a sad experience with ‘brand X’ or, shall we call it ‘brand V’? Their (more expensive) offering was so bad, I had no choice but to return it so, I’m using the Uniden now.

For efficiency sake, I will start with the negatives so that anyone who cares about these (lack of) features can quickly decide that this set is not for you. Here they are, the negatives:

- The speaker volume is low. This probably has some advantages when it comes to battery life (see below) but anyone who must have a loud speaker should be warned that these phones’ speakers are anything BUT loud.

- The ring volume is also low. Seriously, anyone who has a hearing problem should NOT buy this set. I do not mind the low ring volume because too loud rings bother me but I am listing this as a negative because some could mind.

- The intercom can NOT use the speaker. It’s the earpiece only for the intercom.

The features that made me decide that this is the set for me include:

+ Long battery life. Possibly because of the low-volume, these phones seem to last forever on a charge. The manufacturer claims up to 10 hours of talk time. I’m not sure if that’s the case but, so far, I haven’t seen the ‘low battery’ warning yet and I am spending many hours, almost every day, on conference calls.

+ Good reception. With the base in the basement, I was able to use the phone, outside, some 30 feet away from the house which I can not do with my great Motorola 5.8 MHz sets.

+ Great design. These phones and the base are actually pretty in an unobtrusive, minimalistic way. They are a little bit on the small and light side but they can hold their own in a room full of gadgets.

+ Easy access to voice mail from the handsets. The handset keys actually have the remote-like symbols for play/stop/fast-forward, etc. so, if anyone does not feel like reading the menu options from the phone’s display, you can simply use it as if you were using a remote. Very nice.

+ Belt clip – my wife loves this more than I do because I tend to be at my desk when I talk on the phone.

+ Headset jacks on all handsets – another feature that my wife loves.

+ 50 page, VERY thorough manual that was written by an English-speaker. This may sound like a trivial thing but I was actually impressed by how easy to use and how comprehensive the manual was. Every feature appears to be covered.

+ Easy to navigate, simple menus

+ Privacy mode – once on a call, you can block all other registered sets to listen on your conversation.

Other features, which I expect in any phone in this class and are well implemented include:

= Caller ID

= Call waiting

= 3-way calling

= 70 phonebook entries per set with the ability to copy individual entries or the entire phonebook from one set to another (I tried it and it was very easy)

= The ability to personalize each phonebook entry to show name (can keep the caller ID name if you don’t want to complicate your life), wallpaper, ring style and display style (can’t see myself doing that a lot)

= 30 caller ID number per set, in addition to the phonebook entries

= 5 ‘last dialed’ numbers availalble to redial

= 10 ring tones (in fact 5 rings and 5 melodic tones)

= 10 display styles

= 5 wallpaper styles

= English/Spanish menus

= Independent volume controls for headset, speaker and ringer.

= The ability to set the time/date on all sets and base from one handset.

= The ability to control the answering machine, including turning it off from any handset.

= Intercom.

= Paging a lost handset from the base.

I am overall happy with these phones but I must take off one star, mostly for the ‘low volume’ issue. Other than that, they come as close to ‘perfect’ as anything.

Just in case anyone cares to know what DECT is about.

DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications) is a relatively new (2005) standard for cordless phones, initially developed in Europe.

Some of the advantages of DECT 6.0 include:

- easier to implement multiple handsets sharing one phone jack connection via one common base (have it on a 5.8 GHz set as well)

- easier to implement intercom features between individual handsets (have it on a 5.8 GHz set as well)

- extended range, up to 300 feet

- low power consumption and, therefore, extended battery life

- better performance in areas experiencing heavy radio traffic

- not affected by Wi-Fi or Bluetooh signals (neither are the 5.8 MHz)

5 Stars Clean reliable telephone system
I purchased this system to compliment another DECT3080-3 system. Combining these two systems and setting all the handsets to automatic base selection solved a dead-spot problem in the residence.

The ability to set the handsets to roam between multiple bases allowed this residence to have a total of 6 handsets (this systems 2, added to the 3 from the initial system plus an additional waterproof handset) all operating as one telephone system.

Very easy to program and functions very well.

3 Stars Great Phone with a TERRIBLE battery life
I have had this phone for approximately 3 months and functionally I love it. It is small, light and easy to set up and calls are always crystal clear. It has some nice features including wallpaper which I thought was really interesting on a non-cellular telephone.

However, I can only give this phone 3 stars as I have experienced loss of connection with my base even standing right next to it as others have. Furthermore, the battery’s in BOTH handsets drain whether they are used or not within 24 hours and when they drain the do so in a hurry. I get no warning beeps or signals in any way. I can receive a call with 2 bars and within 10 minutes this phone is COMPLETELY dead. It literally goes stone cold silent with no warning what-so-ever. Prior to this phone I had a Panasonic that I could go a week without charging and would give you ample warning when the battery was low.

I plan on trying to replace the battery in both handsets and I will follow up with the results…

My husband and I really like this product. Very easy to use except for one draw-back that is driving us both crazy. The base units for the extra phones are extremely lightweight and the phones themselves are a decent weight so when we go to hang up the phone we end up knocking off or over the base unit almost every time. We gave ourselves a couple of weeks before reviewing as the angle to put the receivers in is very different from our old phones but we are still having a problem. Short of using double-faced tape on the bottom of the base units, we will just keep knocking them over. But the phones are excellent for the price and the intercom service is a nice plus.

I had a cordless phone for my landline, and needed more so I wasn’t running around the house for that phone. This is a good bargain for someone who wants several phones in their house, or for someone moving into a new home and needing several phones. I think it is well worth the price which is relatively low compared to some single phones you would pay for elsewhere.
