About DECT Technology

Uniden used to be one of the best. I’m not pleased with this phone. A lot of static noise – very hard to hear the other person – sounds like they are far away. Tried switching channels and usually doesn’t help. Not that impressed with DECT technology. Although the answering system is very easy to use and works great.

3 Stars It works, but feels like a v1
The best I can say about this product is that it generally works as advertised. I connect the base station to a USB port on my computer and, as long as the computer is on and I’m logged into Skype, I can make and receive calls with this phone. The range is pretty good–my computer (and the phone’s base station) are on one end of my 2BR apartment and the phone has a clear connection even when I’m on the other end (maybe 25 yards). I haven’t had any of the problems that others have experienced with it not working, but it is poorly designed and so the “user experience” is sub par.
The most specific example is trying to call out. On Skype, i really have 3 categories of contacts: Skype (computer) contacts who are online, Skpye (computer) contacts who are offline, and plain-old-regular phone number contacts. Because I’m in the US, MOST of my contacts fall into the latter.
Scrolling through the list to find a contact is painful because my 3 lists of contacts are kept separately. If I press the “P” key, it jumps to the first P name in my Skype (computer) contacts who are online. But that doesn’t help because I’m actually looking for a “P” name in my plain-old-telephone number list. I need to scroll–for a long time–to get there. It’s just annoying.
Even little things–like getting to my list of voicemails–are harder than they need to be.
So, this product works but it’s nothing special. 3 stars.

I got this phone cheap, as it has been discontinued. The phone is nice, durable, easy to use, and convenient. However, installing the phone will ‘hijack’ your audio capabilities, meaning that you can’t listen to music or watch the news after install. Even if you adjust the Skype default audio settings, it is still buggy. One work-around is to create a separate log-in user profile and DONT install the phone on the other profile. depending on whether i want to use the phone OR listen to shows/music, I just switch between profiles.

This phone is to expensive for what it does, I am very disappointed with it. it loses connection often shows unavailable and I have to unplug it from the USB port and plug it back again to work, I am glad I am a computer tech I even found out by myself that I have to remove the battery out to reset it and make it to work again which it does not say in the owner’s manual.I use an older version of skype 2.5.0.113 because this phone does not work with a new version of skype. I updated skip and I had to downgrade to make it work. I called the customer support and someone told me that it does not work with the new version of skype. I am alerting people to stay away from it or buy at your own risk , if this 2.5.0.113 version stop working which is already outdated this phone will be completely useless

First of all after charging the battery, it lost life quickly. I was only able to use it for less than an hour.
Secondly, it completely upsets my volume. I cannot receive sounds from my speakers when I connect the phone. I was disappointed.

The telephony kit is a great value for the $$. It was so easy to install and use. Small and compact to fit in your lugage for traveling. Totally recommend it.

Bought tghis for use with Magic jack and it has proven to be a good investment. Great sound and no issues.
2 Stars Faulty Button Design
I’ve owned this base unit with two additional handsets for about a year and a half, and the middle button, which sets volume and accesses caller ID, has stopped functioning. I can no longer change volume, cycle through menu commands, and access caller ID for these two phones. I’ve contacted Uniden customer service through their web interface and received a canned message stating that they will only offer replacement up to a year, and after that a 10% discount. Since I had the problem on two phones, I have concluded that they were poorly designed, and have elected to purchase an entirely different DECT system (from a different manufacturer). Its too bad, because otherwise this was a great handset with an unmatched feature set, though the overall range wasn’t that great.
5 Stars Fantastic phone
The phone worked easily out of the box. The shortcut instructions were especially helpful. The phones easily initialize to the base, let it charge and your ready to go. I use it mostly for day to day phone calls and it works great. The only annoying thing about it is the center button which allows you to access the phone functions. It can be a little difficult to tap into the individual functions. Otherwise, I would highly recommend this phone.
1 Star The speaker phone is horrible
I bought this particular phone because I didn’t need an answering machine. This phone is horrible and I would not recommend it. I have terrible static in this phone. I have e-mailed customer service twice in the last 6 months and haven’t heard a word. I’m really disappointed in the speaker phone and the static. I have always purchased a Uniden phone and this is the worst experience I have had with one of there products.
5 Stars Uniden Cordless Phone
Excellent phone when all you need is a phone, no answering system. I’ve owned 2 other Uniden phones. They were all very good, but they just keep getting better with their newer models. I use this phone with a voip system and I can’t really think of any other features I would want or need. The phone is of excellent quality, easy to use and well built. I’ve gotten accustomed to all the fine features of this phone, so I can’t really say how it compares with other brands.
One feature that’s pretty cool is you can have a separate ring tone for different people in your phone book. Set one ring tone for you, one for your wife, one for the kids, etc. You always know who it’s for.
I’ve ordered quite a few products from Beach Audio/Beach Camera before. Prices are great, packaged very well in good condition and arives in just 2 days with standard shipping.
