Uniden used to be one of the best. I’m not pleased with this phone. A lot of static noise – very hard to hear the other person – sounds like they are far away. Tried switching channels and usually doesn’t help. Not that impressed with DECT technology. Although the answering system is very easy to use and works great.

Bought tghis for use with Magic jack and it has proven to be a good investment. Great sound and no issues.
2 Stars Faulty Button Design
I’ve owned this base unit with two additional handsets for about a year and a half, and the middle button, which sets volume and accesses caller ID, has stopped functioning. I can no longer change volume, cycle through menu commands, and access caller ID for these two phones. I’ve contacted Uniden customer service through their web interface and received a canned message stating that they will only offer replacement up to a year, and after that a 10% discount. Since I had the problem on two phones, I have concluded that they were poorly designed, and have elected to purchase an entirely different DECT system (from a different manufacturer). Its too bad, because otherwise this was a great handset with an unmatched feature set, though the overall range wasn’t that great.

The phone worked easily out of the box. The shortcut instructions were especially helpful. The phones easily initialize to the base, let it charge and your ready to go. I use it mostly for day to day phone calls and it works great. The only annoying thing about it is the center button which allows you to access the phone functions. It can be a little difficult to tap into the individual functions. Otherwise, I would highly recommend this phone.
1 Star The speaker phone is horrible
I bought this particular phone because I didn’t need an answering machine. This phone is horrible and I would not recommend it. I have terrible static in this phone. I have e-mailed customer service twice in the last 6 months and haven’t heard a word. I’m really disappointed in the speaker phone and the static. I have always purchased a Uniden phone and this is the worst experience I have had with one of there products.

Excellent phone when all you need is a phone, no answering system. I’ve owned 2 other Uniden phones. They were all very good, but they just keep getting better with their newer models. I use this phone with a voip system and I can’t really think of any other features I would want or need. The phone is of excellent quality, easy to use and well built. I’ve gotten accustomed to all the fine features of this phone, so I can’t really say how it compares with other brands.
One feature that’s pretty cool is you can have a separate ring tone for different people in your phone book. Set one ring tone for you, one for your wife, one for the kids, etc. You always know who it’s for.
I’ve ordered quite a few products from Beach Audio/Beach Camera before. Prices are great, packaged very well in good condition and arives in just 2 days with standard shipping.

I am not entirely satisfied with this phone, but I am not unhappy either because it was reasonably priced for the quality.
The quality is inconsistant.
Two phones came in the box. One has a battery life as advertised. The other’s battery fades after 70 minutes of talking. It gets less than an hour if it hasn’t been on the cradle for very long.
Voice quality is ok, but not crystal clear.
I sound fine to people on the other end of the call. But they sound a bit fuzzy to me.
Menu wasn’t intuitive.
I needed the manual to learn how to navigate the menus.
Nice, basic features.
I don’t require many features. It remembers missed calls and calls I’ve placed. It also has a phone book. Extra handsets are also available. It also has caller id.
1 Star Bad Hardware, Bad Service
We purchased this phone in January ‘09 and it stopped working about 3 months later. The center button does not work – this makes the handset pretty much useless. I’m feeling like an idiot for ignoring posts talking about the same product.
Customer service offered to send us a new handset for $10. They know there is a problem but they insist that’s the only way we’ll get a working handset. We’re stuck with the dilemna of whether to keep investing in this phone or cut our losses. Each handset failing every 12 months costs us $20/year, $40/year if they last 6 months, …
The features of the phone aren’t bad. We haven’t noticed any problems with voice quality or range cutting out yet.
We are a long-time Uniden customer. It’s frustrating that a company cannot make a good product and/or stand behind their product. I can’t picture buying another Uniden product.

I love these phones. I do not have a phone jack in my kitchen and this is the perfect solution – I just plugged in the 2nd handset in my kitchen.
I still have to figure out the options on the phone – but so far – I am very happy.

1 Star Total failure and an awful customer service.
I can only say that amazon and the vendor who sold this product on your site, get an -F. First you send me an used phone, which doesn’t even work. Then you come up with excuses that I can’t send it back. I have never ever seen such bad customer service and you guys are a joke. I will never ever buy anything on amazon anymore. Good deal; you got to keep $50.00. You got that and one less customer on your site.
I hope people read this message and they are very careful when they buy something from amazon.
2 Stars Good voice quality, rather poor features
I’ve owned this phone for about two and a half months. The voice quality is pretty good; at least, I have nothing to complain about. The speaker-phone is surprisingly good. The only technical problem I have had is that the phone cord that came with the package did not work; fortunately, I had another one that I used to connect the base to the wall.
I don’t have anything to say about the answering system, because I use the one provided by my phone company.
I find the phone set to be severely lacking in features. Here are some things that annoy me the most:
- While I can see it might be nice to have per-phone address books, it is annoying to synchronize numbers across all handsets. You can copy one number to one other handset, or you can copy all numbers to one handset. I’d like a single, “copy all to all” option.
- When you store a number in the phone book, and that number calls, I expect to see the number I stored. This allows me to correct for bad caller ID information.
- You can’t call numbers left by the caller ID. It stores it as e.g. 123-456-7890. But you need to dial with a ‘1′ in front, and it doesn’t do that. So, if you want to call somebody who called you, you can’t just call them from the caller ID list.
- As far as I can tell you cannot store “quick dial” numbers. This means that I have to go into the phonebook every time I want to make a call, even though there are some numbers I dial regularly. In particular, accessing my voice mail is tedious because I cannot quick-dial into it, nor can I re-map the answering machine button.
- There are very few provided ring tones, and of those several are cheesy or annoying.
On the positive side,
- The phone knows about my phone company answering system (which “pulses” the dial tone to indicate that there’s a message), and flashes the “new messages” light when appropriate.
- As said above, the voice quality is good.
- You can adjust an individual handset’s volume level, which is nice because you can for instance have the bedroom volume lower.
- You can set ring tones for individual entries in the contact list, meaning that if you want to shut out phone spam you can add their numbers and disable the ring tone.
I haven’t left the phone off the charger long enough to know about battery life.
I used another cordless set some 6 years ago and unfortunately cannot remember its brand/model name, but it was a much better set. I would not buy this particular model again nor would I recommend it to others, unless they don’t care about the negatives above. Otherwise, it’s a good phone, it’s just that the missing features really bug me.

The wireless phone system performs as promised but I have not been able to ‘wire’ my fax through the phone as I could with my previous phone.
Customer service at Uniden answers in about 30 minutes and then they have no idea about how to solve my problem.

Dear Sir/Madam:
Product received and installed according to instructions. Product performed very well for the first couple of weeks; then, all or a sudden we could not make or receive calls. We had no response to three calls to Technical Support; an email to Uniden Marketing Manager; and a letter writen to Uniden Customer Service in Fort Worth, Texas. Product returned to Electronic Express Catalog on 2-2-09 for a full refund. Electronic Express authorized Amazon.Com to credit our credit card on 2-6-09 (Katie).
It is now 2-24-09 and I have not received the refund credit from Amazon.com. From my experience with this product, it does not deserve one star.

Uniden TRU9585-2 Digital 5.8 GHz Digital Cordless Phone/Answering System with One Extra Handset/Cradle
I read a couple reviews on this phone that said it just stopped working after a short period of time. I thought it was just a fluke, I was wrong. I started using this phone in the beginning of January. It was fine, aside from the quiet ring tones, until about a week ago when it decided that it wasn’t going to let me dial out, or let my callers hear me when they call. Luckily, I keep a corded phone hooked up to the line!
I suggest against this phone!
