I’m not tech savvy so I’m explaining the best I can… my cable modem usually hooks to my laptop via an ethernet cable but I want a wireless connection. The cable cord plugs into modem, so does a phone cord. I thought I could jst plug the Ethernet cable to my router and get a wireless signal, which worked, but the dsl light is flashing red on the router. My laptop gets a wireless signal but cant access internet cuz there’s no dsl signal. I tried connecting a phone line from wall to modem then modem to router. No luck. Is there anyway I can make this work?

Our internet was running perfectly with a perfect signal 5/5 bars.. and it suddenly went down to 2/5 bars out of no where & the internet was dropping ALOT!.. we didnt move anything or something like that nothing changed.. this is what i have done so far..
1. i bought a new wireless router.. didnt work
2. i bought a more powerful router with extra range.. didnt work
3. i got new cords to hook everything up… didnt work
4. i reset everything.. didnt work
5. i got rid of the cordless phones.. didnt work
6. called linksys .. and went through setting configurations.. didnt work We have a motorolla cable modem.. its not the modem i called and said it was working perfectly and i dirrectly connected the computer to the modem and the internet did not drop. Our wireless router is a linksys wrt160N *note: we have digital phone from teleblend.. so the hook up goes cable modem.. digital phone… wireless router.. its all set up correct Can anyone help me =/ ?

1.I have a Innomedia router for my digital phone
2. A motorola cable modem
3. a linksys WRT160N wireless router i have the cable modem and the teleblend innomeida hooked up to my computer but im not sure how to add the wireless router

I’m not sure that my title is clear or not, so here is my question: I just moved to a new apartment, and after a quick WLAN search on my laptop, I found out that I have a few open & free Wireless LANs in my neighborhood (YAY! ). So currently, I access internet on my laptop and cell phone using these networks. Now, I want to kind of expand my home wireless network using the access point feature on one of these wireless routers (Cisco-Linksys WRT54G2 or Cisco-Linksys WRT54GL). Here is how: I want to have internet on my Belkin Desktop Skype Phone. It has an Ethernet port on it, and I am going to connect it to the router. I want to connect my Western Digital WD TV Live to both internet and my laptop. Again, it has an Ethernet port on it, so I want to connect it to my router using a RJ45 cable. Moreover, by using the access point feature on the router I want to access internet, and I also want to stream video files from my laptop (which will be connected to router wirelessly as well). Lastly, will I be able to use my printer from my laptop (it has wireless capability)? I’m pretty sure that I can do that anyway… I am not so familiar with wireless routers and networking, so is it doable? I’d appreciate your help P.S. Which router do you recommend for this matter?
To people who thinks I’m stealing:
(1) I asked my next door neighbor and he said it’s OK if I use his wireless connection!
Plus, (2) I don’t do hard-core downloading or video streaming or anything!!! I only check my emails and make Skype phone calls!
Also, (3) according to state law it’s not stealing if the network is not locked!
So, please either help, or pass this question! THX
A- streaming video => I am going to stream video on my hdtv from my laptop! i’m not going to use internet for this matter!!!
B- i am friend with my neighbor and he knows that i’m using his wifi!!!
